2026 events & plant distributions
Winter Seed Day
4 – 6 p.m. Thursday, March 5
Foster Community Center (200 N. Foster Ave., Lansing, MI 48912, in the 1st floor gym)
This one-day event is for gardeners who plan to start transplants at home. Attendees will learn about seed starting and pick up free seeds for plants that need an early start in Michigan, including a wide variety of tomato, eggplant, peppers, broccoli, cabbage and select herbs and flowers.
Prior registration is not necessary; open to all low-to-moderate income gardeners.
Seasonal plant distributions
Garden Project Resource Center (2401 Marcus Ave., Lansing, MI 48912, at the south end of Foster Park)
Distributions in the spring, summer and fall of seasonally-appropriate seeds and transplants. Seed and plant types vary; join Garden Project’s Facebook Group and sign up for our email newsletter for updates.
Prior registration is required.
Spring plant distributions
- 10 a.m. – Noon Wednesday, April 22
- 5 – 7 p.m. Thursday, April 23
Summer plant distributions
- 10 a.m. – Noon Wednesday, May 13 & 27 and June 10 & 17
- 5 – 7 p.m. Thursday, May 14 & 28 and June 11 & 18
Fall plant distributions
- 10 a.m. – Noon Wednesday, August 5
- 5 – 7 p.m. Thursday, August 6
Seed garlic distribution
5 – 7 p.m. Thursday, October 8

This one-day event will offer seed garlic transplants.
Prior registration is not necessary; open to all low-to-moderate income gardeners.
