In many of our communities, as many as 1 in 4 children are food insecure. This stark reality requires action, and we need your help.

Our neighbor, Elizabeth, remembers her struggle all too well when she unexpectedly found herself on her own with four kids and no stable income.

“All of the sudden, we had to learn all these resources that we had never needed before,” she recalled. One of those resources was GLFB’s Weekend Kits program.

Her experience taught her a valuable lesson: Food insecurity can happen to anyone. That’s why she later helped distribute Weekend Kits at a free summer camp, ensuring other families in need could find the same support she once relied on.

Please make your gift today and help us fight the rise in childhood hunger in mid-Michigan.

Just $8 provides one Weekend Kit, filled with eight meals plus snacks, for a child.

Elizabeth’s message to anyone struggling is simple:

“It’s okay to get help. We all have bumps in the road, and you are not alone in this.”
