Mes de la Acción contra el Hambre 2017

Hunger Action Month 2017 header

Every September, food banks, food pantries, shelters and community kitchens work together to raise awareness of how hunger affects the community. Unfortunately, hunger is an issue facing far too many of our friends and neighbors. The are many reasons why a family might be struggling with hunger: Layoffs; medical expenses and prescriptions; surprise auto or home repairs. No matter what families face, Greater Lansing Food Bank (GLFB) has this mantra: No one in our community should go hungry.

Many facing hunger stay silent out of fear of stigma or being unsure how to get help. During Hunger Action Month, GLFB is asking community members like you to simply show their support for a hunger-free community and speak up for those in need. You can add orange (the color of Hunger, as designated by Feeding America) to your Facebook profile. You can hold a food drive. You can direct a friend in need to United Way’s 2-1-1 hotline so that friend can access one of GLFB’s 140+ food pantries.

One by one, we can build a community where everyone has access to nutritious food.
