CARW provides 26,000 meals

In just its second year, Capital Area Restaurant Week has proven itself to be a force for good in the Greater Lansing community.

On Monday, Aug. 18, CARW presented a check to the Greater Lansing Food Bank for more than $3,400. The donation, raised from this year’s event in the month of July, will provide over 26,000 meals to those in need.

“When you consider the growing need in this community, you see why dollars are important to the food bank,” said Kim Gladstone, GLFB External Relations Manager. “One in four children are still suffering from food insecurity.”

This year, 23 restaurants in the Greater Lansing area participated by creating special menus and donating $2.50 for each special meal ordered from July 6-12. Sponsors of the event were Earthy Delights, WILX 10, City Pulse Magazine and the Greater Lansing Convention & Visitor’s Bureau.

CARW is expected to return in 2015 for its third installment.
