SNAP Assistance Program
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is the federal food assistance program and the first line of defense against hunger. SNAP benefits are deposited onto a Bridge Card every month to be used for purchasing food items at most grocery stores, convenience stores and farmers markets.

Double Up Food Bucks
If you are a Bridge Card recipient, you may be eligible to use your benefits at your local farmers market. Participating markets will have an information booth where you can redeem SNAP dollars. For every $1 you redeem, they will give you a bonus $1 (up to $20) to spend on Michigan-grown fruits and vegetables. Grocery stores are beginning to roll out participation too. Redeeming Double Up Food Bucks varies by retailer, so be sure to ask your grocer.

United Way 2-1-1
For 24/7 assistance to locate your nearest emergency food resources, dial 2-1-1. This will connect you to a United Way 2-1-1 call center location. The operator will ask you a few basic questions (family size, location, etc.) and will provide you with the nearest food distribution location.
