Whether you’re sorting and packing food in our warehouse, delivering Weekend Kits for kids, distributing food through a Mobile Food Pantry or helping gardeners with Garden Project, we appreciate you.
Karen & Glenn Asiala
June 2024 Volunteers of the Month
Glenn and Karen have been volunteering with GLFB for more than 40 years, starting when the food bank was a part of the Red Cross at a different location.
They enjoy volunteering to help neighbors who may not otherwise be able to have, receive or do some of the things they need to thrive.
“Working at the food bank is easy and fun, and sometimes results in a little physical activity,” Glenn said. “We work with a lot of great people too.”
Karen is now retired, but worked as an instructional assistant in the Lansing School District. She also volunteered at the Sparrow Hospital gift shop for 35 years. When she’s not volunteering, she loves to sew, knit, make quilts, read and work in her flower garden.
Also retired, Glenn was a pharmacist and now likes to keep busy doing almost anything. When not volunteering, he enjoys woodworking, skiing and trying to fix things that don’t work.
