It’s Volunteer Appreciation Month 2018

Volunteers

April is always welcome here in Mid-Michigan. Snow melts, temperatures warm and spring can be felt all around us. April is also the month that we take some extra time to say THANK YOU to our valued volunteers, without whom we could never assist those in-need.

Greater Lansing Food Bank is a complex operation. We receive donations from food drives, businesses and manufacturers. In order to get this food out to our partner agencies, our volunteers inspect it for safety and package it for distribution. Volunteers ride along with our drivers to pick up and deliver donations. They assist with our building maintenance. They staff fundraisers and help with mailings. In the summer they sort seeds and maintain growing spaces for our Garden Project. In short, they are an integral part of everything we do here at the GLFB.

Almost every day of the week, volunteers help us move as much food through the system as efficiently as possible – over 8.5 million pounds last year!

For all this, we can never say THANK YOU enough. Volunteers are truly at the heart of our mission: they help us ensure everyone has access to nourishing food. So, whether you are a weekly “warehouse warrior,” part of our garden team, or have given a couple of hours of your time once or twice a year, we want you to know how much we appreciate you and your commitment.

Thank you so much for all you do for your communities though your commitment to Greater Lansing Food Bank. Thank you for caring,

Joe Wald
Executive Director
