GLFB Distribution Center | Bath, MI

Join us at the GLFB distribution center Wednesday, November 12 for the 35th annual Empty Bowls event!

Bring your friends, family and coworkers to experience our reimagined Empty Bowls, right here at the food bank. This year, we invite you to join us to:

  • Tour the food bank and learn how we distribute food throughout our seven-county service area, helping keep food on tables across mid-Michigan for families experiencing food insecurity,
  • Learn about GLFB programs connecting neighbors with resources in innovative ways, like Weekend Kits, Senior Kits, Care Kits, Home Delivery and Garden Project, and
  • Take home one of dozens of unique bowls, handcrafted by local potters at Greater Lansing Potters’ Guild and Clayworks, whose members generously donate their time and talent to create hundreds of beautiful bowls each year.

Tickets on sale now | $35 per person

This year’s event is open-house style, with tours leaving on a rolling basis every 30 mins from 9 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. and 4 – 7 p.m. Purchase is required to ensure we have enough bowls for all attendees.

You can purchase tickets online starting October 15, or via phone by calling (517) 853-7801.

Please note: If you are planning to attend with a group of five or more people, please email giving@glfoodbank.org.

Potter’s Choice online auction

Place your bids now through 11:55 p.m. Wed., Nov. 12!

GLFB thanks our friends at Clayworks and Greater Lansing Potters’ Guild for lending their creativity to the fight against hunger. This year’s standout creations were hand-selected and featured in the Potter’s Choice Auction.

Anyone can bid to win their favorite items, but if you are unable to join us November 12, the auction is a fantastic opportunity to support our mission and still receive a handcrafted bowl.

Why an empty bowl?

The empty bowl you receive represents GLFB’s commitment to a hunger-free mid-Michigan. A bowl is simply a vessel — the food inside is what nourishes and empowers our neighbors’ lives.

Similarly, without food on our shelves, GLFB is just an empty building.

With the support & partnership of neighbors like you, GLFB is breaking down barriers to food access to ensure everyone in our communities has enough food to live an active, healthy life.
