How the plant exchange works:

6 – 6:15 p.m. | Arrival & Check-in

  • Organize your plants and browse the plant selection.
  • NOTE: Check-in closes promptly at 6:15 p.m. Those arriving after 6:15 p.m. will not be able to participate in the exchange.

6:25 p.m. | Round 1

  • Those who donated one plant may select one plant from the selection.

6:30 p.m. | Round 2

  • Those who donated two plants may select a second plant from the exchange.

6:35 p.m. | Round 3 – 10

  • Each person in attendance selects a plant from the table. Rounds continue until there are no plants left.

Preparing for the Exchange:

  • Carefully divide or dig up the plants you wish to donate. Watch an instructional video here.
  • Pot each plant individually.
  • Label each plant with one of our labels. Please fill out labels before arriving to the plant exchange.
  • Bring a box or crate to help you take your new plants home.

REMEMBER: Garden Project’s Resource Center has garden tools to lend, including digging forks and shovels to make your plant dividing task easier.

Plant Inventory:

Plant selection varies each year  — which is part of the fun of the event! You can browse a list of plants exchanged in 2022 to get an idea for what you might see at this year’s event:
