Greater Lansing Food Bank’s work getting food to nearly 27,400 mid-Michigan households each month wouldn’t be possible without the dedication and hard work of our volunteers.
Whether you’re sorting and packing food in our warehouse, delivering Weekend Kits for kids, distributing food through a Mobile Food Pantry or helping gardeners with Garden Project, we appreciate you.
Bob Page
April 2025 Volunteer of the Month
Bob Page started volunteering with GLFB in 1998, originally helping with food sorting before driving for our Weekend Kits program. Now at 92 years old, he has been helping school children get the food they need for more than 26 years.
“It’s a simple thing, we know the kids need the extra food and they need people to deliver it,” Page said. “There’s nothing more important than our kids. They are the leaders of tomorrow.”
Page recalls relying heavily on community during his working years as manager of WKAR-TV public television, and said it has been easy to transition to helping others in his retirement years.
“This is what enjoying retirement is all about,” Page said. “It’s as good a feeling as you can get, helping others.”
