Clifford Park Community Garden was started in 2001 in partnership with Greater Lansing Food Bank’s Garden Project, Lansing’s Parks and Recreation and interested neighbors. The garden has grown several times over the years, adding fencing, compost bins and compost and a storage shed for gardeners’ use.

While Clifford Park Community Garden is not officially an organic garden, they do promote the use of compost versus chemical fertilizers and support low-impact methods of pest and disease control. Garden plots vary by size and style of gardening, including raised beds and no-till year-round gardens, as well as traditional garden plantings.

Many of our gardeners return each year (and several have been here since the beginning), continuing to amend their soil and improve their plots. You can get a lot of produce out of a 10 x 20 ft. plot using intensive gardening techniques. We usually have a few plots available each year, although they are first come, first served and go quickly.
