Established in 2010, Averill Woods hopes to do the following:

  • Create/enhance a sense of community among resident gardeners, their families, teachers, students;
  • Promote educational opportunities for students gardening with their teachers;
  • Provide gardening space for neighbors whose yards are now too shady with tree maturation;
  • Provide garden space for families of children who attend the school;
  • Prevent crime through environmental design: bringing more adults, watchful eyes, and positive activities to the school over the summer.
