Our botany farm provides a wonderful opportunity for our Eaton Rapids High School students to be involved in the growing of herbs and vegetables for our cafeteria.
Food is grown in our four hydroponic towers as well as two raised beds contained in our greenhouse. Upon harvesting, the food is taken to the cafeteria where it is incorporated into the meals being served to our students. Basil pizza and fresh garden salads with slivers of radishes are quickly picked by the students going through the lunch line.
Our botany farm is providing our students with the opportunity to see how easy it is to grow fresh food. We could not have done this without the help of our grants, so a big thank you to The Greater Lansing Food Bank, The Eaton Rapids Education Foundation and Farm Bureau Insurance for helping kids experience the joys and benefits of growing fresh foods.
