Farmer profile: Edward & Tendi

Edward and Tendi grew up farming in Zimbabwe. Unfortunately, when they moved to Lansing, they found that their favorite foods from home were unavailable in mid-Michigan.

The couple is using their Lansing Roots farm as a way to fill this gap and provide fresh Zimbabwean produce to the local African immigrant and refugee community.

Edward further explored his interest in food production as a student of agricultural economics, providing him and Tendi with important knowledge to help them market and sell the produce from their farm.

In spite of their extensive agricultural experience, they have not yet been able to obtain the initial land and resources necessary to start their own farm. Lansing Roots has provided a space for them to get past some of these hurdles.
