Empty Bowls raises more than $9,000

Now in its 23rd year, the 2013 Empty Bowls event at the Cooley Law School Temple Conference Center in Lansing raised more than $9,000 to feed the hungry in our area.

Held on Oct. 15, donors paid $20 each for a bowl crafted by the Greater Lansing Potters Guild then ate a lunch of donated bread, soup and water. More bowls could be bought for another $20 each.

The GLFB works with 145 agencies to feed the hungry in a seven-county area. Demand has been growing each year as more and more households are affected by the struggling economy.
